About UVShield™

log-uvsh.JPG (32417 bytes)Do not make medical claims about this product

While this product is approved and recommended by The Skin Cancer Foundation as an effective sun screening device, due to exposure to UV or chemical environments outside the vehicle as well as preexisting conditions or family history, individuals cannot  eliminate the risk of developing skin cancer simply by using UV Shield.

LLumar UVShield™ Construction

Comprised of two layers of polyester impregnated with a UV absorber, the film is protected with an acrylic scratch resistant coating and is attached to an interior glass surface with an acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive which also contains a UV absorber.

Product Stability

After 1500 hours of testing in an Atlas ci65a Xenon Weatherometer, rise in UV% transmittance was less than 0.1%. Actual field testing results will vary based on geographical location, orientation of the glass (vertical, horizontal or sloped), and time of year. (See Graph A)

Our experience indicates that 1500 hours of accelerated aging is roughly equivalent to 2 years of normal exposure. We have no testing which would indicate a rapid rise in loss of UV over the life of the product. The current flat trend shown in the graph should continue. No special precautions are required by the consumer to assure the claimed protection. (See Graph B)
