This Paint Protection Film Website is being updated at this time. Please excuse any messes you might see here. We're peddling as fast as we can..... Thanks for your patience.
Is it difficult to install ? |
No, these paint protective kits are designed to be a DO-IT-YOURSELF product, so it is quite user friendly. All of these kits come with installation materials and an instructional video. Anyone can apply these kits provided instructions that come with each kit are followed closely. Should any questions or concerns arise, please feel free to call us at (972) 783-6005 or email us. You can also Click Here to go to our installation demonstration to see how these kits are installed.
Will it be noticeable? |
No, unlike the unsightly black vehicle front end bras that sand your paint over time and the hard plastic bug shield that requires drilling to mount it (places for rust to form). Our paint protection film is a clear material with a high gloss that allows the color of your cars original paint to shine through that sure beats rock nicks and chips.
How thick is the material itself
How thick is the protective film ? |
The material itself is .08 mils thick. A little thinner than the thickness of a business card and very pliable (especially with mild heat).
How long will these kits last on my car? |
These kits are designed to last 7 years (or longer in most cases). Since most people do not keep their cars for more than 5 or 6 years, in most cases there should be no need to ever replace the kit on your vehicle. If you keep your car longer than most (if you really like it and never want to get rid of it), then break the cost of the job down and average it over the number of years and you find that the cost becomes even more reasonable for what you get. These kits carry a 5 year manufacturer warranty if installed professionally by an authorized installation facility. Much of how the car is taken care of in general is the deciding factor on how much longevity you'll have past the expected normal life span.
I just got through doing a really fine job installing it, but after setting for a while it appears to have a milky swollen appearance?
When installing the kit with the supplied mounting solution, this is normal. The haze is the result of the mounting solution evaporating from underneath the material. The vapor that is produced during the curing period results in a milky swollen appearance for several days (if you look at it hard enough). This will improve as the mounting solution evaporates from underneath.
Is it best to apply these kits wet or dry
Is it best to apply these kits wet or dry?
Definitely wet with the proper mounting solution supplied and following the correct mixing ratio instructions.
Does weather affect the installation
Does weather affect the installation?
No, it can be applied any time you have the time. Rainy and cold weather periods require the use of more heat from a hair drier and can add a bit more time to the curing time after installation. It does not affect serviceability or quality of the final outcome.
I cannot seem to get the edges to stick
I cannot seem to get the edges to stick and stay down?
Use a hair drier while squeegeeing these stubborn areas to evaporate the out coming mounting solution (DON'T use a heat gun because they get too hot and will damage your film piece or your paint). Mild heat will accelerate the tackiness of the adhesive and make the film more pliable to work with.
Can it be removed?
Yes, although paint protection film kits are designed to provide permanent protection for your vehicle, it may be removed with ease without any damage to the paint should the need ever arise.
will the paint be faded differently
If I remove it will the paint be faded differently from where it was?
Usually not. The material does contain an inhibitor to prevent the material from deterioration from the sun's UV rays, but this does not prevent the UV rays from passing through the shield onto your paint (unlike window tinting).
Can I order just one piece out of a kit in case I damage it some how?
Yes.
Do I have to cut or trim these kits
Do I have to cut or trim these kits to fit my vehicle?
99% of the time the answer is no, these pre cut paint protection film kits have already been engineered, designed and pre-cut to fit each vehicle correctly. The other 1% that occasionally needs trimming is usually due to someone with gorilla strength over stretching these kits.
kit doesn't seem to be cut right
The film kit doesn't seem to be cut right. It appears to be cut too short.
Kits for rounded (compound curve) surface applications are designed to be short so that you can stretch them into place. The purpose of this trick is to compensate for a compound curve on the vehicles surface or to help pull out excess material around the edges that would otherwise be very difficult to lay flat without getting creases in it while squeegeeing.
How do you handle doing mirrors that are so rounded
How do you handle doing mirrors that are so rounded, it's like trying to wrap a piece of paper around a ball without getting any creases in it?
Start on one end and squeegee down one small area on one end and slightly heat this small area with a hair drier to lock it in place. Carefully lift the rest of the piece to the point to where it is adhered and reapply your mounting solution. Stretch the material across to the other side till crease fingers minimize. While holding this in place, briefly heat again to lock this second side into place. Now squeegee out all remaining areas and finish stubborn areas with heat to seal all edges. Mild heat and stretching are the key words here.
What if I want to have a car wash wax or wash it?
You should treat the protection film shield the same as you normally do to the rest of the car's paint. Just make sure it's fully dry from installation and all edges are properly adhered before doing so (no flapping edges). High pressure washes will not affect the film kit as long as you avoid spraying the high pressure nozzle directly at the protection films edges from a ridiculously close distance (this isn't good for your paint any way). The film shield can be waxed or polished just as you would your paint and will prolong expected life spans with regular applications.
Does wax build up along the edges
Does wax build up along the edges?
If some wax does build up along the edges, it can be easily removed with a soft cloth, cotton swab, or soft tooth brush.
Does it require special care?
No, once kit has been applied and allowed to cure for 24 hours, no further maintenance is required. You can wash and wax your car as you would normally.
What is the warranty on these kits
What is the warranty on these kits ?
These kits come with a 5 year limited manufacturer warranty against peeling, cracking, yellowing, and shrinkage. Problems caused by improper installations (such as dropping it in the dirt during the mounting stage, installations on dirty unprepared surfaces, applying pieces up side down, etc...) with do-it-yourself kits do not constitute a legitimate warranty claim. The manufacturer warranty specifics can be found here.
Do you install these kits in case I should chicken out ?
Why most certainly we do. Labor costs is based on $50.00 per hour and usually equals the kit price in most cases. Please call ahead at (972) 783-6005 for an appointment. Plan on us needing your car for a day or two depending on how much of a kit we are to install and the degree of difficulty your particular car presents.
